An Exmoor staycation is just around the corner
By Lynne Scott,
We all must agree that a UK staycation 2020 style is now quite overdue!
This holiday concept, the ideal of getting away somewhere closer to home, was gathering real momentum in its own right. However, coronavirus now makes a domestic holiday look like it might be the only option for quite some time. That is far from a disappointing situation!
Why is staying ‘home’ for holidays a great idea?
Coronavirus aside, there are already plenty of reasons that make a domestic holiday a clever move.
- Why bother with all the fuss of planning a hefty (and expensive) trip abroad when you can find bliss at home?
- Avoid the stress and all the hassle that goes with packing, long queues at airports, and putting the dog in kennels
- Don’t worry about visas or passports or poor exchange rates
- Just because you’re still on home soil doesn’t mean this won’t feel like a delicious getaway
- And this year, more than ever, your pound will be appreciated by the people and small businesses that rely on British tourism
Indeed, planning a UK staycation 2020 style is most certainly a great idea, and Exmoor Character Cottages can help you do precisely that.
Keen to take the easier route to a relaxing escape in a remote corner of England? We make it so easy for you. Exit at junction 24 or 25 to enjoy the scenic route through the Quantock Hills towards Exmoor. Before the kids have had time to say, “are we nearly there yet?” you’ll be stepping into one of four idyllic cottage retreats. What’s more, they all come with the little extras you’ve been promising yourself and never got round to.
Welcome to your holiday cottage – the perfect venue for a perfect English getaway
The award-winning Exmoor Character Cottages makes it special for a romantic weekend for two, chilling out with the kids, or that long overdue family get-together. This is the perfect English retreat.
The appeal of Exmoor Character Cottages is that they are indeed full of character, charm and old-fashioned delightfulness. So much so that you won’t want to leave. Because, why go out when you can sink down into the warm hot tub with a glass (or two), cook supper on the range, or just hang out in the garden under the stars? We make it extra-special by sourcing some of the best places to visit and attractions to see. We also provide guides to what’s on around the area, should you want to venture out. We’ve even written our own book on some of the most spectacular walks in the area.
But it doesn’t end here. In fact, there are actually plenty more reasons why our cottages really are the perfect getaway.
Let’s give you an idea of things to do in Exmoor
There is plenty to see and do, if you can tear yourself away from the delights of your accommodation. At 267 square miles, Exmoor is one of Britain’s smallest national parks, so you won’t need to go far to find stunning landscapes, beaches and 15th century harbours, the highest cliffs and the darkest skies.
A day trip out to Porlock, the Holnicote Estate, and the bustling harbour of Lynton and Lynmouth are worth getting the car out for. Or just meander along the road to Selworthy Green for one of the best cream teas anywhere at Periwinkle Cottage. Then enjoy a stroll around the picturesque thatched cottages before heading back for an evening in by the log fire.
Despite coronavirus, we’re making it easy, flexible and secure for you to make a reservation in 2020
That’s right. We’ve introduced a special policy in response to coronavirus that enables you to make a booking for just £50. This is fully refundable should coronavirus prevent the booking from going ahead. And we’ve prepared 10 ‘safe’ activities with trusted local people. It’s called ’10 outdoor activities for Happy Holidays on Exmoor’.
