Stone Barn: “A superb treat to stay in this beautifully restored barn.”
John, Carol and Christine, October 2023
“Lovely cottage for our group walking the Coleridge Way. This was a great base to eat in and enjoy the joys of Minehead. We particularly enjoyed The Wheelhouse restaurant in Minehead and Hathaways in Dunster. St Michael’s church is worth a visit. The hot tub and the view of the church were a real treat after our treks through the spectacular countryside.”

“Wow! What a wonderful cottage made from a fascinating stonemason’s barn. 100% deserved award from VisitEngland. The surrounding area is enchanting and what wonderful weather for October! I had quite forgotten the heavily wooded hills, the narrow high-sided lanes and charming thatched cottages in the villages. Visits to Tarr Steps, Porlock Weir, Bossington and the Church of All Saints at Selworthy Gren were all a delight. Plenty for steam enthusiasts at the West Somerset Railway with a stop at Watchet for a terrific little museum. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better – a visit to Lynton and Lynmouth, followed by goat spotting at the prehistoric looking Valley of Rocks topped it all on our last day. We shared a late lunch at the Blue Ball Inn at Countisbury before heading to Lorna Doone Valley. All-in-all and incredible three days.”

“Outstanding attention to detail, a really stunning holiday home. Thank you so much.”

“Stone Barn is lovely, we couldn’t ask for more. Nothing is too much trouble for Lucy and her team. We arrived in Biblical weather conditions so many roads were flooded but Lucy was on the phone to help and to make sure we arrived safely. We had some lovely walks with a dog – even if a little windswept!! This was a break for my father’s 80th and he was over the moon, especially being able to use a hot tub. We will definitely recommend the barn to friends and hope to return.”

“A lovely short stay at Stone Barn. Lovely facilities, everything one wants for their stay. Wonderful, and we will certainly come back again. Plenty of places to visit so a really good location. Thank you Lucy for understanding about Winnie the dog, she enjoyed the garden and made herself at home on the window seat. Thank you once again to you and your team. Perfect!”

“Stone Barn is undoubtedly a fabulous holiday home. We would love to return and will be recommending it to friends and family. The location in Minehead’s Higher Town is perfect and we loved the view of the church tower from the hot tub. Thank you for all the attentive details and well-equipped kitchen. The hot tub and garden were both enjoyed and we were blessed with excellent weather.”

“Despite the ‘glum’ weather, we have had a lovely holiday staying at Stone Barn. Thank you to the team for providing such an immaculately clean property and maintaining the hot tub each day – very much appreciated. We ordered the ‘Breakfast and Brunch’ box which was packed away for our arrival. The items provided were of superb quality. We visited the Stuart Lowen farm shop to buy more of the granola to take home with us – it is the best we’ve ever tasted! The highlights of the holiday were visiting Dunster Castle, Selworthy (lovely tea room), Porlock Weir (delicious Sunday Roast) and Lynton and Lynmouth. We are sorry to be leaving – we hope the next family to stay here enjoy it as much as we did.”

“What a lovely stay at Stone Barn! The perfect location for a staycation, nice and close to everything you could need. Stone Barn is perfectly stocked and beautifully decorated, and a relaxing dip in the hot tub has not gone unappreciated! Lovely visit to the steam railway to see the sights and experience a travel back in time, we enjoyed coastal walks, mini golf and a cheeky visit to the arcade (or two!!). Even only a nine-minute drive away from the Golden Retriever Experience, a fantastic day out! All in all we have had a fantastic holiday and Stone Barn has made it all the better, thank you to Lucy and the team for making our stay brilliant!

“We have had a fabulous time here in Minehead, enjoying all the town has to offer. If you have a rainy day, the local cinema is great at just £4 each! We had a wonderful meal in the local Italian. The accommodation has been 5* – can’t fault it! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.”

“Our third year coming to stay at Stone Barn and still as good as ever. Lucy and her team are brilliant – nothing is too much to ask. We went to the North Devon water park and had a brilliant day. Our daughter went riding at the Exmoor Pony Centre. She had a two-hour ride over the moors which she really enjoyed. It was a lovely holiday. The accommodation makes the holiday everything you could ask for. Thank you.”

“A lovely stay in Stone Barn despite rather ‘ordinary’ weather! We enjoyed a trip to Dunster Castle, some rainy and sunny dog walks up on the moors, and to Conygar Tower. Our 14 year old had a great two-hour hack from Burrowhayes Farm Stables – we would recommend. We loved Porlock Weir and The Harbour Café, as well as pizza on the terrace bar at The Porlock Weir Hotel. Your tip about crabbing at the steps past the bridge was great. We hired e-Bikes from Exmoor Adventures and had a super afternoon covering hills we’d never have managed otherwise – we will do that again. We also loved Bossington Beach and the rainbow coloured stones. The burgers at Stones in Minehead went down well. And the daily hot tub was a real treat – thank you.”

“Wow what a wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of Minehead. We enjoyed the hot tub most days. We had many a game of bowls in the lovely cottage garden. It’s an easy and pleasant walk into town and the seafront. We visited many places within easy reach of the cottage including Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth, Woolacombe Beach and Dunster. Dunster County Show was really good, and our little dog Darwin won rosettes in the dog show! The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need. A wonderful stay, thank you.”

“Another extremely enjoyable week at Stone Barn. As always, a spotless cottage with every appliance and amenity possible. We love the peaceful setting with the lovely little garden. Trips to Horner Wood, Lynton, Lynmouth and Watersmeet completed an excellent stay on Exmoor. Thank you, Lucy and Team.”

“Thank you for helping us have a really lovely holiday and birthday! The barn is beautiful and had everything we needed to be able to relax in the evenings after successfully walking the coast path from Minehead to Lynmouth. Everything here is very dog friendly and the bus service very useful. We loved Bossington’s Kitnors Kitchen, Porlock Weir and Dunster. Everywhere we went was very friendly. A really lovely place to stay.”

“The weather has been great and the barn superb, brilliantly fresh and clean thanks to Lucy, Gail and team. The trip on the steam train to Watchet was great and the staff were really helpful. You can’t beat eating fish and chips by the harbour being eyed up by the seagulls! Porlock Weir was charming and well worth the visit. The Harbour Gallery and Café serving amazing coffee and cheese scones. We liked Cream in Minehead. Puffed up the steps to the Church too. Thank you for the welcoming space we stayed in – five stars.”

“We have had a lovely week and been so lucky with the weather. We took lovely visits to Lynmouth, Watchet (on the steam train), Dunster Castle which was beautiful and the kids loved the arcade in Minehead. Our dog loved a run around on the beach at Minehead, and was welcome wherever we went. The hot tub was amazing, especially with the church bells. Thank you for making us so welcome!”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The garden, the Barn, the hot tub and the surrounds were exactly what we needed and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! The walking (and the running!) routes on the doorstep are spectacular and I think we’ve well and truly tired Ted the dog out for at least a few days. Thanks again for accommodating us at the last minute – you’ve all been wonderful! Hopefully, we will see you again.”

“Thank you so much for a fabulous break. The Barn is just what you want from a holiday home. The layout is really well thought out. Having a bathroom for each bedroom is rare but makes for a much more enjoyable stay. The attention to detail is absolutely spot on. The décor elements, furniture, lighting and toiletries take it to the next level when looking for a holiday home that is better than home! The garden is just stunning, seeing the mature borders thriving is comforting and a joy to witness. We were so lucky with the weather but if it had rained, the DVDs and games are a very welcome addition. I might have to save up as the hot tub is just glorious! Thank you”

“Fabulous! Just a fabulous stay! Thank you Lucy for having us. Baby Leon loved the games, the kids loved the hot tub and I love the whole beautiful house.”

“A wonderful stay at Stone Barn. A beautifully laid out garden that allowed us to sit quietly and read the newspaper and enjoy the morning sun. Minehead shopping area is vast and varied. Dunster village is beautiful with a lovely antique shop and lots of gift shops. The Castle is well worth as visit as is Porlock Weir. We had a trip to Bishops Lydeard on the steam train which was my favourite! The weather hasn’t been kind to us but we had plenty to keep up us occupied. Stone Barn’s hot tub is delightful, and we have totally made use of it every day, even if raining! This holiday home is lovely and very well-equipped, catering for every need.”

“Another wonderful stay for our family at Stone Barn and Pilgrim Corner. The gardens are amazing – and those lawns! We had mixed weather but some lovely days of sunshine. Trips to Bossington and Selworthy and to the Porlock Marshes. 14 of us made the trek for a delicious Easter Sunday lunch at The Bottom Ship in Porlock Weir. The boys enjoyed the Easter egg hunt at Dunster Castle, and we had good suppers at The Old Ship Aground and The Quay pubs in Minehead. Stone Barn’s hot tub was much enjoyed! Thank you so much to the team.”

The accommodation and equipment are immaculate and you have really thought of everything. The location is perfect and we have enjoyed many walks to the beach. “We have loved our time at Stone Barn! The accommodation is fabulous and we loved all the attention to detail, especially the guide on local walks provided. The Valley of Rocks, the cliff railway in Lynmouth, crabbing at Porlock Weir and fossil hunting on Kilve Beach were all highlights. The hot tub is a dream! We would love to visit again.”

“What a lovely cosy retreat in a fab location. Fantastic walks within walking distance!! We took a lovely bracing walk from Blue Anchor to Minehead. Stone Barn is a tranquil retreat after the bracing January sea air or a walk to picturesque Dunster and back – it has everything you could need on hand. Lucy and her team seem to have thought of everything. Hopefully we will be back to explore more.”

“Lovely location to welcome in 2023 – the sunrise on New Year’s Day from the window was very beautiful. It’s a lovely, well-equipped cottage and easy to wander from the Barn. We loved the hot tub. The church bells on New Year’s Eve were a bonus as were the crazy swimmers on New Year’s Day!

Minehead, The Valley of Rocks, all Exmoor is a beautiful place even with what the weather had to throw at us! A special thanks to Lucy who went above and beyond to get us here. Thanks to all – the team clearly takes pride in their jobs.”
