Situated in one of the oldest, prettiest parts of Minehead, you’ll find this beautiful thatched cottage. Sleeping eight, it’s a large house with four comfortable en-suite bedrooms – all individually designed.

The impressive cream country kitchen is fully equipped with a butler's double sink, range-style cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and separate fridge, plus lots of storage. For informal dining, there's a rustic wooden table and six chairs. You'll find a fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer in the small lobby off the kitchen. From the kitchen another door opens out into a boot room with a recycling point, cleaning cupboard, and yet more storage for coats and shoes.

The dining room overlooks the small terrace garden at the rear of the house. This long, bright room has seating for eight. Entertainment in this room includes an iPod and, for the children, a well-stocked toy chest. A high-chair is available upon request.

There is a sumptuous sitting room at Pilgrim Corner. Spacious and airy, it can comfortably seat ten or more in sofas, armchairs and window seats. A bureau, which is tucked in a corner next to the squint window (used in past times to see who was at the front door), contains writing materials, guide books and visitor information packs. A wood-burning stove adds a cosy feel on colder nights. There's a selection of games, jigsaws and puzzles for all ages. And, for your digital delight, there's a large HD TV with Sky, Netflix and a Blu-ray player.

A beautiful cottage-style garden and circular hot tub complete the property. From the flagstone terrace the full extent of the garden is almost hidden. Walk further along the path and the garden gradually reveals itself. If you are very lucky, at this moment you'll hear the clock strike in the nearby St Michael's Church that forms an imposing backdrop to the scene.

Passing terraced beds of spring or summer flowers you'll go through the rose arch and find yourself in a secret garden with its secluded summerhouse 'Pilgrim's Folly', perfect for long, lazy afternoons. And that's where you'll find the hot tub and changing cabin.

As with all our cottages, Pilgrim Corner is suitable for families with children, couples and larger adult-only groups. Dogs are welcome on request. Linen and central heating are included in the rental (please bring your own beach towels for use in the hot tub).

There is roadside parking 50 yards away from the property.

As it is located next door to The Old Sweet Shop, which sleeps eight, we can now accommodate larger parties, depending on availability. Please contact us for more details.

Pilgrim Corner has been awarded the Customer Choice Award from cottages.com two years running, in 2016 and 2017. This award is based on guest feedback provided to independent review site Reevoo over 12 months.

Exmoor Character Cottages

We love Exmoor. It’s a beautiful and often overlooked part of the country. As a guest once wrote in a Visitors’ Book: “We asked ourselves why we had driven past Somerset for years when everything we wanted and more was here.” To one side is the sea and inviting beaches, to another purple heather humming with bees on the moor, plus magical ancient woods... READ MORE

Testimonials

“Another good stay in Minehead with wonderful walks through the woods and along the beach towards Dunster with our cocker spaniels Lola and Charlie. It’s our second stay at ‘Pilgrim’, so when we said, ‘We’ll be back’, we meant it! We’ve now also stayed twice at The Old Sweet Shop. They are both great dog and people friendly cottages. We will be back for sure!"

“Wow what an amazing place! The cottage is just beautiful and has so many thoughtful little touches! The Christmas decorations were just perfect for our pre-Christmas relax. The area is so stunning – there is so much to explore – we will be back! Thank you again for a beautiful stay.”

The Barkleys, December 2018
VISITORS BOOK, PILGRIM CORNER

“Loved staying in this very historic house. It’s also very well-equipped. Many thanks for the welcome tea tray and cake – Daisy loved her treats too! Dunster is a great place to stay. Good shops, cafes, the Castle with its lovely gardens and the beach.”

Pat, Ken, Claire and Daisy the dog, May 2019
VISITORS BOOK, THE OVAL

“We have been visiting Dunster for many years, but this is the first time we have stayed at The Oval. The building has so much character and charm and is fully equipped with everything you could need. The extra touches left for us on arrival for mum’s 70th birthday were lovely and gratefully received after a long journey. We have had a wonderful holiday. There is so much to see on the doorstep and in the surrounding area. We hope to be back again soon.”

The Chapmans, June 2019
VISITORS BOOK, THE OVAL

“Thank you for a lovely five days, we have really enjoyed the time we spent in this lovely cottage. Everything was here, it’s a beautiful location and we have loved the hot tub after our days out. We would love to return again, this time with our partners.”

Vicky, Beccy, Derek and Debbie, June 2019
VISITORS BOOK, THE OLD SWEET SHOP

“What a beautiful cottage! Everything we needed and wanted for a week away with the family. The hot tub was awesome, and the garden beautiful. The attention to detail and the information pack were first class. We definitely recommend ‘The Apple Tree Tea Rooms’ in Minehead!! Thank you for helping us to make this week special.”

The Jones Family, April 2019
VISITORS BOOK, THE OLD SWEET SHOP

“Just wanted to say thank you for the welcome touches and how much we’ve enjoyed our first visit to Minehead, staying at the beautiful, well-equipped Stone Barn. It’s in a lovely quiet location – yet near enough to wander into town. We recommend cream tea or a slice of cake at Lisa’s Vintage Chic and the Sunday Carvery at Stones, both are dog friendly. And a day trip on the steam railway! Thanks again, hopefully we will see you again soon!”

John, Alison and Ruby the dog, June 2019
VISITORS BOOK, STONE BARN

“Wonderful week at Stone Barn, what a lovely place to have a holiday. The hot tub is fantastic, was used many times and enjoyed by all. The house is all we could have hoped for and more, such comfortable beds and the welcoming tea tray with cake was much appreciated and a thoughtful gesture. Many thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable in your lovely property.”

Kevin, Lesley, Donald, Georgina and Lucy the dog, April 2019
VISITORS BOOK, STONE BARN

“I think the first thing we all did when we entered the cottage was say “Wow!”. What a beautiful, relaxing and ultimately fantastic way to spend a week. The cottage is so well-equipped to be able to cook and clean when need, and it is so well-situated that everything you need is on your doorstep. And then there’s the hot tub! I think we spent every day in it, and we will all miss its relaxing jets and the beautiful views surrounding it. Overall, a truly uniquely lovely way to spend a week away from work and writing this, I already want to come back! Thank you so much to the team who couldn’t have been more helpful and lovely during our stay 😊.”

Exmoor Character Cottages

We've been working hard to eliminate single use plastics and be as green as we can in our four luxury holiday cottages. So we are all delighted to be recognised as a Plastic Free Champion for Exmoor and receive the award last month. And here's the wooden (of course!) award to prove it. ...

Exmoor Character Cottages

An incredibly crisp morning atop North Hill.

The views today were astounding - the twin Severn Bridges, Brent Knoll, Cardiff Bay and even Port Talbot seemed almost touchable.

The Exmoor Ponies were loving the dry weather too!

Exmoor Character Cottages

🍭 At this time of year, many of us develop a sweet tooth and remember the sweets and chocolates of our childhood.

🍬 One of our Minehead Cottages, The Old Sweet Shop, holds a very special place in local folklore; something that's beautifully recounted in our latest blog: bit.ly/SweetMemoriesMinehead
