What’s included when you stay with us
We are often asked what guests can expect to find in our luxury self-catering cottages. We aim to provide a real home-from-home experience and our team works hard to deliver that for you. You will find well-equipped kitchens, good quality furnishings, fabrics, sumptuous linens, beddings, and towels. Here’s the detail on what will be there when you arrive:
In the Kitchen
You’ll find a kitchen roll, a scourer and j-cloth, and washing up liquid in the kitchen. Under the sink, you’ll find basic cleaning products (anti-bacterial spray and bleach) one dishwasher tablet per day, and a rinse agent. We top up the dishwasher salt during changeovers. We also provide two freshly laundered tea towels and oven gloves. We leave you two bin liners – we always suggest you bring your own supply too.
At the washing machine, you’ll find two washing tablets. Please bring any further washing detergents you require.
In the Bathroom
At each sink, you’ll find liquid hand soap. There is one new, wrapped ‘Who Gives A Crap’ toilet roll, a toilet cleaner, and an air freshener in each loo.
Towels and Toiletries
Bed linen and towels are provided. Each guest receives one large bath sheet and a hand towel. These are strictly for use in the cottage only, and must not be used in the hot tubs. We provide one set of mini toiletries in each en-suite. This includes shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
We also provide towels specifically for dogs – in a separate area from yours!
We do not provide towels for the hot tub. We ask that all guests bring their own beach towels for use in the hot tub, so our en-suite towels do not get chemicals on them. If you do use them in the hot tubs and they are damaged, we will take the cost of replacements from your security deposit.
Your Welcome Tray
We leave our guests a laid welcome tray. This includes a cake from our local bakery, and two pints of semi-skimmed milk in a reusable bottle (which we ask you to leave behind). We have Nespresso Essenza Mini Coffee Machines in each cottage and leave you a few pods. Please bring everything else you plan to eat or drink.
You’ll also find a complimentary jute bag, perfect for trips to the shops or the beach, and our own ‘Little Book of Walks’. Here we share our love of Exmoor with 12 walks for all abilities and interests, as well as local tearooms, pubs, and other points of interest along the way.
Electric Vehicle charging
Unlike other holiday properties, we currently don’t charge extra for overnight trickle charging at Stone Barn and The Old Sweet Shop. We do ask that you please use the cable we provide specifically for this purpose and follow our guidance. EV charging is unfortunately not available at our other two cottages due to restricted/non-existent access.
What we charge extra for
Dogs: We make a small extra charge per dog to cover the additional cost of cleaning.
Damages: Damages have to be paid for. We do not charge for a broken mug or plate, but we do ask you to let us know so we can replace it for the next guests.
Things that we would most definitely charge for include damage to our towels, bedding, linens, carpets, and upholstery from hot tub chemicals, hair dye, felt pen marks, and wax crayon marks. We would deduct this from your £250 security deposit for smaller items. For damage to larger items, such as furniture, rugs, hot tubs, we recommend you consider Holiday Insurance. Honestly is always the best policy as we deep clean and inventory check on every changeover.
