The Old Sweet Shop is a lovely cosy cottage with an ‘at home’ feel. The house was spotless, the beds were comfortable and the hot tub was fantastic! On the days when we didn’t have the best weather, we stayed in and played board games and made use of Netflix. A special mention for the chocolate biscuits on the welcome tray which went down an absolute treat!
We spent our week getting out and about. We visited Porlock where we had a roast at the ‘Top’ Ship pub. We took part in the weekly Minehead Parkrun on Saturday morning. We went to Lynton and Lynmouth where we enjoyed pasties by the harbour. On our best weather day, we walked all the way to Dunster and Blue Anchor before getting the West Somerset steam railway into Watchet and then back to Minehead. We also visited Ilfracombe where we enjoyed the beautiful beach.
Some of our favourite places however were in Minehead. Dana’s fish and chips were the best we’ve had in a long time, the food at the Wheelhouse Restaurant was so delicious that we ended up going twice and the staff were so welcoming and lovely to chat to. And the food at Fausto’s Italian Restaurant was delicious (especially the tiramisu!).
Thank you so much for having us for the week in the wonderful Old Sweet Shop!
